Super Simple Toilet Paper Roll Bird Feeder #Craft

Making a toilet paper roll bird feeder

My girls LOVE nature. Whether it's a simple walk, a trip to the zoo, or the odd wild rabbit streaking through the yard, we just can't get enough. Our hedges along the one side of our front yard are often full of little sparrows. From time to time we take some bird seed and sprinkle it along the top of the railing on the front porch. We have a large window in our living room and we really enjoy watching the birds fly up to the house and peck away at the seeds.

I've always wanted to try to make a homemade wooden bird feeder. Maybe we'll try it one day. Today however we kept it super simple. Just a toilet paper roll covered in peanut butter then rolled in bird seed. Stick it on a branch and you're done! Simple and inexpensive. Love those types of crafts. Now to wait for the birds to come and have a snack! Hopefully I'll get a good picture to add to this post later. Have fun!

  1. We love crafting here too, and if it has anything to do with a nature craft it's even better! We picked up a couple of small wooden birdhouses before winter and the kids had a blast painting them and filling them. We will definitely be using your idea also because with this never ending winter the birds need all the food they can get =)

  7. My little guy has a peanut allergy so we'd have to try another type of butter but I am sure the birds would be happy either way!

  8. That's easy enough for me to do plus it makes the kids think about animals during the winter. Great idea!
