There's No Homework In Finland ~ What Makes Finnish Students so Successful? #Infographic

I found this interesting infographic on OnlineClasses.org  which compares Finland's school system with that of the US. My husband's family is from Finland and we went to Helsinki for 3 weeks about 7 years ago. We had a fantastic time. It's a wonderful country with many benefits. I loved that their public transportation offered free fares to those with children in strollers. Expectant mothers also receive a maternity package which includes "bodysuits, a sleeping bag, outdoor gear, bathing products for the baby, as well as nappies, bedding and a small mattress."

It looks like they could teach us something when it comes to educating our children as well. Take a look at this infographic and let me know what you think.

  1. I think they should learn from Finland, and alot of the teachers just push the students forward even if they shouldn'y be going on

  2. Obviously, we can learn a lot from the Finnish school system. It is clear that they are doing many things right that we haven't been!

  5. Love this!! We have been homeschooling for 12 years and I can say that freeing the kids from tests and homework has made my kids LOVE learning and they rarely fight me on school since we ditched the tests and excessive busywork :)

  6. I am almost to the end of my 11th year of homeschooling and wouldn't have it any other way! I don't remember having homework in kindergarten, but my friend's 5 year old has 2 hours of homework every night, after an 8 hour school day! ridiculous!

  7. I love that their teachers are as esteemed as doctors and lawyers. That's how it should be!

  8. Homework is a killer! I remember complainging about it when my now junior was in 1st grade. The teachers were not very receptive, lol. It is a big downfall for my oldest daughter. We ended up doing online school this year, which is still pretty hard. The assigments are too bad, but they kill you with these hard essays. My younger one is in 7th grade now. She spends hours doing homework every night. Poor thing always has bags under her eyes. Her life is basically dance & school work at this point. She has hung out with a friends twice this entire school year so far.
