Creative writing was never my strong suit and my 10 year old daughter has always found it difficult as well. One problem is figuring out what to write about. Once you overcome that hurdle and get going the thoughts and words often flow more freely.
I have a confession to make. I'm not really a huge football fan, but I love hosting our yearly Super Bowl party none the less. Nearly every year hubby invites a bunch of his buddies over to watch the game at our house and the kids and I love being a part of it. We make all the snacks and finger foods and serve the guys during the game. Kind of like our own little catering business, lol. I think it's time though to mix it up a bit and find some new dishes to serve. There are tons of ideas online for awesome Super Bowl Party food and I've asked some of my blogger friends to share some recipes with me that I could in turn share with all of you.
Below you'll find the links to some mouthwatering recipes that you may want to try as well. Are you hosting a party on Sunday? What will you be serving? I'd love to know. Leave me a comment below and share your ideas as well.
Worried that one day your Blogger blog may just disappear?
One of the reasons many switch from Blogger is the fear that their blog could disappear overnight because we don't really own our blogs on Blogger. In reality we could lose it all at any moment. With all the work we put into our blogs that is a scary thought.
One of my absolute favourite comfort foods is burritos. Once every week or two I make the family a big burrito and taco dinner. I used to buy canned refried beans from the grocery store but I never really cared for them and always found them too expensive. Surely I could make them at home. And not only would I save money but they would be healthier and tastier.
Cancer has touched our family as well as many other families across Canada. Last year my sister cut off her lovely locks and donated them and my daughter is planning on doing the same in the next week or two. The donated hair is turned into wigs for cancer patients.
My fellow blogger friend, Deanna, from Maple Leaf Mommy has A LOT of hair! LOL. And she is donating 1 inch of hair for every $100 raised in donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Check out her blog post to learn more. Plus, you have to check out her picture too to see how LONG her hair really is! I wonder how many wigs THAT would make?
Want to go sledding but can't get to a sledding hill?
Then build your own!
We have a great big sledding hill that isn't too far from home but with a busy family schedule we don't always make it there as often as we like. The kids would go every single day if they could, just not realistic though. Every year we normally gather all the snow we shovel off the driveway at the bottom of the tree you can see at the end of the yard. The kids use the pile of slow to sled on. But it's always a short hill and not all that thrilling. This year, and I can't believe we never thought of it before, we made a big pile of snow just in front of our front porch. This created a larger hill, plus there is a slight natural decline to our yard that enables them to slide almost all the way to the tree. So much more fun!
I've joined an amazing group of bloggers to bring you this great giveaway.

It may be cold and miserable outside but we're trying to warm things up with a fantastic ash giveaway. I'd love to buy one of those media fireplaces for the living room. I love the look and it warms up the room too. What would you spend $500 on if you won?

Between the ice storm, snow storm, and deep freeze, the kids have been stuck inside a lot. The weather certainly has been a bit crazy lately so it's a great time to get out the craft supplies and have some indoor fun. I'd seen these coffee filter snowflakes many times on Pinterest and thought they were really beautiful and a fun craft to do with the kids during the winter months.
I'd been watching the weather for a week or so leading up to the storm. It was looking like we were due for some snow and the kids were super excited. But as the days went by the chance of snow decreased and it looked like we were in for some freezing rain instead. So I guess no tobogganing yet. As the weekend approached the freezing rain forecast was looking extra gloomy with lots of weather warnings and the recommendation to stay indoors and avoid travel if at all possible. This was disappointing because our family had all planned to gather at my Aunts house Saturday evening for a nice dinner. We didn't want to miss the dinner but didn't want to risk driving in freezing rain. In the end we decided to go since the worst of the storm wouldn't hit til we were back home.
