Peace of mind with @ReactMobile: FREE Personal Safety App

*sponsored post ~ all opinions are my own*
React Mobile Personal Safety App from Robb on Vimeo.

Have you ever been in a situation where you are out alone, perhaps walking your dog in the evening, coming home late from work on the bus, walking to your car in an indoor parking garage, or just walking through a neighbourhood that feels unsafe? Don't you wish you had something to keep you safe or offer you some comfort in those moments?

React Mobile is just what you need for these situations. After being held at gunpoint during a home invasion while in college several years ago React Mobile Co-Founder, Robb Monkman, was inspired to create a personal safety app that could be used to silently and discreetly alert a wide network, including the authorities, of an emergency and its location.

Apple TV has got it all! Review and Giveaway ~ CAN only Ends 12/2

*sponsored post ~ I received an Apple TV to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own*

Entertainment powerhouse that fits in the palm of your hand!

Have you heard of Apple TV yet? I had heard of it a while ago but really didn't know much about it at all until just recently when I was given the opportunity to review it. We've been using it in our home for the past couple weeks and honestly we really love it. There are probably a number of features that we still need to discover but the family has really enjoyed using it so far.

I don't know if you've had the same experience as we have, but about a year ago we decided that subscribing to satellite service was just getting far too expensive. We made the decision to cut it off and downgraded to a antenna that hubby installed himself on the roof. It gets us a number of stations so we can watch a few of our favourite shows on TV for free. We've also subscribed to Netflix for a measly $7.99 per month. Not bad eh? We went from a monthly bill of over $100 for satellite to less than $10 per month. With our Apple TV we now have even more options without breaking the bank.

Hide the scissors! There's a 5 year old in the house!

My daughter the trouble maker!

Ugh! What am I going to do with this daughter of mine? If age 2 is called the terrible 2's then age 5 should be called the frustrating 5's. Annika has been driving me batty lately, the latest being her trouble making with scissors.

A couple years ago she got a hold of the safety scissors and cut a chunk of hair from the back or her head. I couldn't believe she did it. Thankfully it didn't show too much and wasn't a huge deal. I had a talk with her about scissors and safety and told her she could only cut paper when mommy was helping her.

She's a bit older now and uses scissors for arts and crafts and has been totally fine. She's very careful and knows how to hold them properly when she's walking with them. So...I never thought it would happen again. But...one day a couple weeks ago my oldest daughter Maija came downstairs with a handful of her sisters hair that she found in their bedroom. Turns out Annika didn't like the way her hair was hanging in her face and decided to cut it out of the way and make herself some bangs. Thankfully she did a pretty good job and didn't cut them too short. Don't tell her, but she looks cuter with bangs. I kind of like it. LOL. Anyway, she did get into big trouble and we had another serious talk about scissors. She promised she'd never do it again. BUT.. 2 days later she cut another chunk off the side. I think her hair was in a side pony tail and some hair was falling out and bugging her so she thought she'd just cut it off. Needless to say she got in even MORE trouble for that. Thank goodness her hair is a bit wavy and somewhat layered already. Despite the 3 or 4 handfuls of hair we eventually found hidden in her room, her hair doesn't look too bad.

DK LEGO Handful of Bricks 10 Minute Challenge 2013

What can YOU make in 10 minutes?

To celebrate the publication of the LEGO® Play Book DK offices around the world thought they's have some fun! Inspired by the Handful of Bricks Challenge that appears throughout the LEGO Play Book where LEGO Fan Builders have 10 minutes to build something from just a few basic bricks, each DK office was sent a virtually identical collection of LEGO bricks and a timer. Each country was then given 10 minutes to create something wonderful with their LEGO bricks! DK Offices participating in the LEGO Handful of Bricks Challenge 2013 are: UK / USA / China / India / Germany / South Africa / Spain / Australia and of course Canada! Take a look at the resultsWhich country do YOU think has the best creation? My vote was for CANADA! Cast your vote before December 1st!

What can you build in 10 minutes? Send DK a photo of YOUR 10 Minute Handful of Bricks LEGO creation to bricks@tourmaline.ca and you may be featured on their Facebook and Twitter pages. Keep an eye on hashtag #LEGOPlay.
