Looking to make use of all those apples you have sitting in your cellar from your family apple picking trip? We did too! You'll love this apple crumble recipe.
It's the best I've ever had!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- 10 cups cooking apples, aprox 7 large apples (we used Cortland apples from our apple picking trip) peeled, cored and sliced (not too thin)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tbs flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water (optional)
- 1 cup quick cooking oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp each baking powder & baking soda
- 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
Place apples in 9 x 13 inch pan. In a bowl combine the white sugar, 1 tbs of flour and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the apples and give the pan a little shake. Sprinkle water if using over the apples.
In a bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar baking soda, baking powder, and melted butter. Cover apples evenly with crumble mixture.
Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. Oven temperatures may vary so check 5 - 10 minutes early to avoid burning the topping.
Serve with French Vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
