The Organized Family Menu Planner by Glow Baby ~ Review and Giveaway! CAN only ~ 6/18

The Organized Family Menu PlannerMeal planning has never been easy for me. I think I got that from my mom. Planning meals for the family was also one of the things she dreaded the most. I don't know why it's so hard but I guess it just runs in the family. That's why I was so pleased to receive The Organized Family Menu Planner from Glow Baby to review. I'm actually not very organized when it comes to many things in my life. Something that I really need to work at, I'm sure. Meal planning is a big problem though. When I shop, I have a basic idea of what I need ~ chicken, ground beef, bread, cheese, potatoes, etc. I have a fairly regular routine when it comes to dinners but I don't always have all the ingredients in the kitchen and often have to bother poor hubby to grab an item or two on the way home from work. But dinner is just half the battle. At least for dinner I know for the most part what I'm cooking. Breakfast and lunch are a big challenge because it's hard to plan what to make. Lunch is usually leftovers from last night's dinner or grilled cheese sandwiches. Can you tell I need help? I know I need help!

I love Glow Baby's Family Menu Planner because it covers everything! It features 52 weeks of menu planning spreadsheets.  The boxes for each day allow you to plan for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 3 snacks. Once you decide on the meals you can then write down everything you need in the tear off shopping lists on the side. Perfect! No more last minute trips to the store for hubby. I'll actually have what I need because I've planned ahead.

But that's not all. Glow baby really thought of everything when they created this awesome menu planner. It also includes a wipeable cover, conversion chart (we ALL need that!), and a chart to record food preferences and allergies. I love the pages where I can record my family's favourite recipes. Write the name of the recipe, the title of the cookbook and the page number and you'll never have to say,  "now where was that recipe again?" That's something that happens to me far too often.

I don't have dinner parties too often, but at least twice a year I like to have the whole family over for a nice meal. But trying to pull off a meal for 15 or more definitely requires planning. My sister and I also planned a big baby shower for our other sister last year and that took a lot of work. Having this planner would have been a great help because it includes a section for special occasions.

Everything you can think of is covered here. Date, time, decorations, menu, shopping list, guest list, and to do list. I love the menu chart because it allows you to record who is bringing what and you can also record for the dishes you are preparing yourself, the date and/or time you need to start cooking each dish. You know what they say, "timing is everything!" My meals always seem to be ready an hour past the time I had planned. This feature will be very helpful in the future.

The last few pages of the planner includes 12 spaces for you to record some of your favourite recipes and an envelope to store some of your recipes. It's always nice to have everything together in one place. Check your recipes, plan your meals, make your shopping list, and voila! You are now organized and prepared. I may not be a lost cause after all, lol.

I love my new planner and I bet you'll love it too. You can purchase one for just $20. I think it would make a great gift too. And thanks to Glow Baby one of my super awesome readers will win a copy for themselves.

This giveaway is open to Canadian residents only and ends June 18, 2013 @11:59pm EST.

  12. I wouldn't say there is one specific meal that I love to make for my family. I do, however, love to make meals that are extremely healthy and incredibly creative! For example: I made pesto pasta salad and the pasta was zucchini and I didn't use cheese or pine nuts for the pesto just lots of garlic, fresh basil, grapeseed oil, and dehydrated tomatoes. It was absolutely delicious, incredibly satisfying, and supremely healthy! Enjoyed every bite!
