It's March already! Can you believe it? That means most kids are looking forward to March break. What does your family have planned? If you're looking for something to keep the kids busy, DK Canada has got you covered with their Time to Play Boutique

The boutique is filled with awesome books, at 30% off their regular prices, that will help solve that "what to do" question. Do your kids like cooking, crafts, or doodling? There are books for that. Do your kids enjoy Lego's, Science, or Chess? There are books for that too. You'll want to check them out. Prices are as low as $6.99!

I was given the opportunity to review a couple of books from the Time to Play Boutique and my girls LOVE them.

I don't think I've ever met a kid who didn't love LEGO's. I've been playing with them since I was a kid. It's a classic. LEGO Brickmaster Friends is a hardcover, 48 page book and includes over 100 bricks plus 2 figurines, Mia and Chloe. My girls love the girly theme and unique pieces.

This book allows you to READ the story, BUILD the model set and PLAY the adventure. The story includes 5 chapters and each chapter includes detailed instructions on how to build each model as the kids follow Mia and Chloe on their adventure to find the hidden treasure. They are able to build Mia's bed, a chair & plant, an apple tree, raft, cave and more. In the past LEGO's playsets have appealed more to boys. I was really excited when I saw this set. I knew the girls would love it and they do.

There are 5 other Brickmaster sets available in the Time to Play Boutique: LEGO city, Ninjago, Ninjago - fight for the power of the snakes, Atlantis, Castle, Pirate, and Star Wars. If you're kids love LEGO, they will love these playsets.

The other book we chose was 101 great science experiments. As a homeschooler I often focus too much on workbooks and not enough on hands on projects. One of the things I used to worry about when considering whether to homeschool or not was how I would handle teaching science. It's books like this that really help give me all the information and guidance I need to teach my kids this valuable subject. Plus it's LOTS of fun!

My daughter has been flipping through the pages of this book a lot the last couple days deciding which experiments she wants to do first. Making a volcano erupt is a classic and I've never done it myself, so that'll be at the top of the list. We also want try to grow a stalactite, build our own thermometer, make our own ice cream, build a banjo, construct a compass, and make an electromagnet. We are definitely going to have a lot of fun with this book and learn a lot while we're at it!

We love books from DK Canada and we're certain you will too :)

**Disclosure: The books mentioned above were given free of charge from DK Canada in order to facilitate this review. The opinions expressed in this post are those of Homeschooling Mom 4 Two and have not been influenced in any other way.

  1. I'm glad for your review. I have a very rambunctious 5 year old who loves me to read to him but also needs something stimulating to do. I will definitely be checking these out.
