How to add a Pin It button to your post.
Pinterest is a great way to share your posts and gain new followers and page views for your blog. I still consider myself somewhat of a new blogger even though it's been almost a year because I know there is still sooooo much I need to learn. I really need to work on getting my posts out on Pinterest more because I know that's how many bloggers get a lot of their visitors. I do have a row of share buttons at the bottom of every blog post, but I wonder how many times readers actually use them. Recipes, craft ideas and tutorials are from what I can see some of the most popular posts to pin. So I wanted to make it easier for my readers to pin these images.
As you can see below, I have added a Pin It button right below my recipe pic. I added the break line for the post right beneath that. What's great about this pin is that you can code it to always link to that specific post and picture. So even if a reader is on my home screen and pins the image from the post preview it will still be associated with the URL for the actual recipe post.
Scroll down for the steps to add this Pin It button to your own posts
Go to your Pinterest account and under About, click on Pin It Button.
Scroll down to the bottom and click Make Pin It Button.
On this screen:
Choose: Pin It Button
Choose how you want the counter to appear: Above, Below, or Don't Show.
Select: One Image
Add the URL to your blog post.
Add the URL to the image you want to be pinned from your blog post.
Add the description you want to appear with your pin.
Now click the Preview button to get your code.
The first set of code you need to add where you want the Pin It Button to appear in your post, as I did directly under my recipe image.
The second set of code goes at the end of your post. For best results add just above your closing <BODY> tag. (I don't have this on Blogger) This code is needed for the button to work.
That's it! Happy pinning!

awesome, I will have to try that sometime!
ReplyDeleteI love when sites have the pin it button there as it makes it so much easier. If it's not there I add a pin by copying and pasting the website, choosing a picture, etc.
