Become a healthier YOU in a New York Minute!

Are you like so many others including myself, always promising ourselves to start making healthier choices in life? Maybe you want to lose some extra weight or just feel better. With the new year come new promises, right? But with our busy lives and most of us working full time jobs, that's easier said than done. I was recently given the opportunity to participate in Your Better Life's pilot challenge ~ In a New York Minute.

In a New York Minute was a 4 week challenge designed to encourage office workers to fit simple healthy habits into their everyday life. The challenge page featured a street map of New York City. As participants in the challenge made progress by completing daily tasks our individual icons made their way through the streets of New York. Not only could we see where we were on the map, but also where everyone else was. If you are a person who is motivated by competition and wanting to beat others, this pushes you to complete your daily tasks. We earned points and toured New York by doing simple things like drinking 8 glasses of water, taking the stairs instead of the elevator,  and going for a short walk at break time. You can get your friends and co-workers involved, add each other as buddies and encourage one another along the way. I also really appreciated the weekly messages with extra tips on how to stay healthy, such as how to stay hydrated throughout the day and when exercising, tips and even a video for stretching at the office, and how to cut back on sugar intake. It was a great program that really helps you make positive yet simple changes in you life resulting in a healthier you. Keep an eye out for new challenges to come!
